Black bears of various color phases are found in the Harris Hill Rainy River district of Northwestern Ontario.

The Black Bear population is estimated to be between 75,000 to 100,000 animals, one of the largest bear populations in North America. Northwestern Ontario is noted for its successful black bear hunting experiences.

The natural resources biologists tell us that black bear migrate to our resort's private Black Bear hunting area in large numbers from other areas miles and miles away. Perhaps it's the abundance of berries, fruit trees in the area, or acorns that fall from the many Oak Trees on our property that draw the bear here. It could be the large amount of vacated land with low pressure black bear hunting here. Whatever the reason, you can almost choose your size and color of black bear for your hunting adventure.

Colors range from blonde to cinnamon, brown to black, yet they are all Black Bears.

Adult Black Bear females typically weigh 130-230 pounds, while male Black Bears generally weigh between 200-400 pounds.

The largest bear recorded from our Black Bear hunting resort's large bear hunting area was a 650 lb dressed (already gutted) male Black Bear. There was also a 714 lb live weight, (whole bear, not gutted). Black Bear harvested nearby too. Both male Black Bears were probably of very comparable size.

The Black Bear hunting opportunity is excellent here. This camp was almost exclusively a Black Bear hunting camp that offered "world class Black Bear hunts", with success rates for Black Bear harvest always being high. This exclusive Black Bear hunting area is known to have a large bear population, with many Black Bear of notable size and varying colors.

We can provide "natural bear hunts" with experienced professional guides, and we also can provide baited bear hunting sites that ensure an excellent opportunity of success for all bear hunters.

Our strategically placed bear hunting stands are in carefully chosen spots within a good shooting range from our baits. Our Black Bear baits are active and are producing an influx of Black Bear to the sites. Your bear guide will take you to find a site of preference for you and your mode of hunting. You may chose your firearm: archery or bow, rifle, muzzleloader or black powder. Whatever site is chosen, an excellent opportunity awaits you to successfully harvest your trophy Black Bear.

Our resort has a large and exclusive Black Bear hunting area. No one else can hunt in it except our Black Bear hunting guests. No matter what method of hunt you choose, archery, muzzle loader or rifle, your experienced guide will be there to help you find that trophy Black Bear you are searching for.

We want to offer you more than just hunting; we want your hunting trip to be an enjoyable and memorable vacation that you will never forget. Your bear hunting package comes with a warm, modern fully-equipped housekeeping cottage with HD satellite TV, refrigerator with freezer, oven range, microwave, BBQ, crock pot, pots, pans, dishes, towels, bedding and more; one cabin per group. You may cook on your own or have meals in the lodge. The Cabins, Lodge & surrounding area has WIFI and there is cell phone coverage depending on your carrier.

Your Black Bear hunt is also a fishing trip, so bring your fishing equipment. You have the use of one of our deluxe 18' boats with 50hp 4-stroke motors, and you only pay for the Gas used plus bait & fishing licenses. You can fish for 6 species of fish here on Lake of the Woods.
